Ferret Care Guide
Quick Start
Diet
Ferret-formulated high-protein kibble + fresh water at all times. Avoid sugary or fruit treats.
Habitat
Multi-level cage in a safe, draft-free space.
Litter
Paper-based pellets; corner boxes recommended.
Enrichment
3–4 hours of supervised play daily; safe tunnels and toys.
Health
Annual vet visits, vaccines as recommended, flea/tick prevention if needed.
Environment & Safety
Best temperature: 60–75°F (15–24°C). Ferret-proof play areas by blocking small gaps, covering vents, securing wires, and removing unsafe items.
Training Basics
Litter
Place boxes in cage corners; reward success.
Handling
Short, gentle sessions with treats and praise.
Nipping
Redirect to toys; discourage rough play with hands.
Grooming
Nail trims every 2–3 weeks, ear checks weekly, occasional baths only when necessary. A simple daily coat wipe helps.
Note: Always follow your veterinarian’s guidance for your specific ferret.
